Printmaking

Jenny Gunning is a specialist printmaker and has a well equipt workshop to teach you all kinds of printmaking – from etching the old fashioned way with acid to dry point on plastic to colograph, Lino and woodcut.

The drawing lessons start you off using very different techniques helping you to improve so you can progress onto perspective drawing and measuring the old fashioned way with your pencil, showing you different techniques that not only helps your drawing skills but helping you to observe more closely the environment around you on an every day basis.

Jenny worked with 9 different schools from around Shropshire to create 'The Big Picture'

Jenny and other artists drew the picture in rough line, blew it up to the grand size of 16 foot by 34 foot and had it printed in sections of 2 foot x 8 foot panels, those panels were then cut up into another 16 sections.

Jenny went into each school taking the panels with her for the children to paint and draw.

after all the workshops were complete Jenny and other artists put the picture back together again. 256 children painted the above picture with the help of Jenny and other artists.

this final piece was put up in Coalbrookdale Museum of the Gorge and was placed on scaffolding.

the whole project was supported by Ironbridge Fine Arts and Framing, Access scaffolding, Museum of the Gorge and the Arts Development team at Telford and Wrekin.
